Steve Frias (a.k.a "Fries") grew up in a restaurant. Boca Chica Restaurante in St. Paul, opened almost 60 years ago by his parents, Guillermo and Gloria Frias, is where Steve learned his craft. Today the Peppers & Fries burritos are made the same way Steve's mom and dad taught him. Steve is famous for saying, "Everything tastes better in a tortilla."
Steve has a second food love: hamburgers. Steve appreciates burgers of all kinds, but his favorite is the classic COLT burger - a big, juicy patty smothered in Cheese and topped with Onion, Lettuce, and Tomato, nestled between two fluffy buns.
As Steve's daughter, Marie, grew up, the two of them often went on a hunt for the best burger in town. No matter where Steve and Marie went, the two of them had to find the best local burger joint.
And baseball, Steve and Marie both love baseball. Steve coached Little League in St. Paul for over 30 years. Marie was always at her dad's side on the field when she was little. They both have fun going to Twins games and twice have gone to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. The inside of Peppers & Fries reflects this devotion to all things baseball.
In 2014 Steve decided to bring his two food loves and his adoration of baseball together under one roof. He asked his daughter Marie (who he also loves) to join him, and Peppers & Fries was born.
Mid-2024 Steve chose to semi-retire, closing the brick and mortar part of the business. Now he does what he loves part-time via the food truck only and Marie opted to take a break from the long hours of the restaurant biz.
